Mr. Esmail is the co-founder, former director, President and Chief Executive Officer of Protox Therapeutics Inc., a company that is developing targeted proteins for the treatment of cancer. Mr. Esmail also served as a director of BC Advantage Funds (VCC) Ltd., a venture fund that invests in early stage life science and technology companies located in British Columbia. He is also the Founder, and former Chairman of the Board, Director, President and Chief Executive Officer of Forbes Medi-Tech Inc., a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ National Market. Mr. Esmail is a former Vice-President of operations of QLT Inc., a Toronto Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ National Market listed biotechnology company, and a former Director of Pharmaceutical Operations for the American Home Products division of American Cyanamid (now Wyeth), where he also managed the company 27s oncology and hospital products division.
